Hello Hugo,
I have forwarded your question to our group working on a permaculture-centric plant database.
You may get some suggestions from some of them.
We do have a project underway that you are welcome to contribute to:
http://permaculture.info
Notice there is a section for "code" that has some information and code releases for some of our project software.
In general, MySQL and PHP *are* open source tools that you could use to create a palm tree information database.
If you are looking for something already pre-built that uses MySQL and PHP, I myself don't know of anything specific that might fit your needs.
Perhaps someone else here does...?
Aloha from Hawai'i,
John Schinnerer
I found your info in an old discussion about :
« creating online plant database »
We are setting up a website for an association of palmtrees lovers.
Do you happen to know what (opensource) tool we can use to set up a mysql/php engine to store and retrieve palmtree information?????
Regards from France,
Hugo Snellen
