Mozilla.
Or should I try Thunderbird?

Thunderbird is simply the spinoff/stand-alone mail client derived from
Mozilla mail.
Mozilla is the "whole bundle" of web browser, e-mail client, and a few
other goodies.
Firefox is likewise the spinoff/stand-alone web browser derived from
Mozilla browser.

And so, Mozilla is an excellent choice as it does the web, email and newsgroups and does them all well, fail-safe and reliable - easy to configure and back up (aand restore).

You get one file to install (for Mac):
mozilla-mac-1.7.11.dmg 13,931KB
downloadable at this location:

There are two choices FireFox + Thunderbird or Mozilla whilst they are similar it should be noted that
Mozilla is not identical to FireFox and ThunderBird

We suggest Mozilla 1.7 if you are looking for an all-in-one solution when using the Internet. Large organizations that require an integrated suite (past Netscape Communicator users) should consider moving towards Mozilla 1.7. All others should consider upgrading to Firefox and Thunderbird.

I'd suggest Firefox and Thunderbird for a few reasons
1) There seems to be more active development of these
2) They run as two seperate programs, if one crashes the other will still run, so you don't loose emails your composing if you hit a bad website.
3) There are more extensions and add ons for FF+TB, these add extra functionality

End of the day these differences are small, either solution is fine.
