I would prefer someone else look into funding opportunities. Besides,
I wouldn't mind taking a little break if we run out of money. I think
I liked it better when I was doing it for fun anyway.

Well, some of our information is authoritative in the sense that
everyone could come together and agree, yes that is the [for example]
definitive botanical name for this plant. OTOH, almost everything
else is far more subjective in that there can be large differences of
opinion about things like plant attributes based on personal
experience, climate differences, etc.

I've been pushing us towards a data model that allows everyone to have
an opinion about everything and hoping that an effective moderation
system will push the most helpful information to the top. This is
contrasted to most other internet databases, such as wikipedia, that
strive to create an authoritative version of every piece of
information. Ken Fern is now the author of 32090 comments attached
plants that any user could disagree with and share their own
experiences/info.

I've kind of answered my own question about the conflict in that I
think it would be best for names of things to be authoritative, but
everything else can be subjective. The implications are that names
can only be added and can't be deleted or edited.
