If there was some way that PIW could demonstrate a contribution
toward energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy sustainability
(along with sustainability in agriculture) other sources in funding might
appear.
Certainly shading from plants, plants for xeriscaping, wind barriers &
hedgerows,
dense evergreen shrub and ground cover foundation plantings for dwellings and
buildings
would count in this respect. The Rocky Mountain Institute in Colorado (Amory
Lovins)
might be interested and suggest funding sources. I just listened to him on
NPR tonight
in a talkshow on advanced renewable energy strategies for the US for the
future.
Plants typically used in permaculture systems play a major role in landscape
architecture
and advanced, energy-fficient residential and commercial architecture.
.......... plants for interior air quality, to attract wildlife, in planters,
exterior and interior
to contribute to quality of life.
