No need on my account - I second python, definitely!

For my plants-as-objects model suggestion, I'd use Python, with ZODB for
object persistence, which on the web => Zope.

Keep all dynamic stuff on the server side and any browser can be the client,
thus meeting this spec:

...which I also agree with heartily.
