Does this adequately summarize this idea?:I'd go for:
Plant or guild records can be associated with an XY coordinate which is
compared to raster climate data to provide numerical 'location'
attributes describing environmental conditions that can be aggregated
between multiple records.
Organism records can be associated with an XY coordinate which is
compared to raster climate data to provide numerical location-based
attributes describing environmental conditions. These attributes can be used to
model the environmental requirements of a species and provide an index indicating
the suitability of a species for a specific location.
