Hi,
The Animal Diversity Web may provide a bit of inspiration for the project. For example, see the article on the domestic goat:

It might be useful to consider how this data could be incorporated into the database (esp. Primary Diet, Biogeographic Regions, etc) and look into the rights.
Here are what you might call grouped tags (or if you're feeling less Web 2.0: keywords) for the goat:
