I am writing to thank Peter Brantley for pointing me in
the direction of this list, and to the list itself, which I am very
pleased to be joining. My name is Mark Bide, and I am responsible for two open standards organisations which I believe to be of direct relevance to the discussions on the list. I am based in London. One is EDItEUR (http://www.editeur.org/), of which I am the newly-appointed Executive Director. EDItEUR is responsible for the development of the ONIX SML messaging standards in the book and journal supply chain; among the work it has recently completed are messages that are being adopted in the RRO community for the communication of repertoire (mandate) information (ONIX-RP) and the communication of distribution information (ONIX-DS). I am also the Director of the ACAP Project (http://www.the-acap.org) which has been developing standards for the machine-to-machine communication of permissions information. I look forward to learning more through the discussions on the list. Mark Bide --
