I think that would probably work but the newspaper is probably easier and faster. The bees will likely have most of it gone in a day or less. I usually check after 2 days and the only thing left is the part that was hanging outside the hive. If you use a screened bottom board my guess is double screened would be best to minimize fighting through the screen. ______ Walter You never can tell with bees. ~ Winnie-the-Pooh
