Folks,
As I noted this morning we had a swarm high up in an oak tree. And
the recent swarm caught on Monday had left sometime in the past
few days.

We went off to be with family on Easter and came back to find bees
going in and out of the swarm trap 12 foot up a different oak tree
than the swarm was in. The small swarm was gone. The swarm trap
has 2 or 3 frames with foundation, so if it was that small swarm
that went inside they should be fine to settle in for a week or so
before I can bring them down and install them in a nuk.

I have a question I hope some of you can shed some light on. My
bees are just attacking us in the yard, on the porch and ever on
the roof. Is this normal when you bring in a new large population
hive with other hives in the yard? We do have old comb and left
over honey they are getting out in the yard. Could this be the
problem? Meg has not been stung yet, both of us have been chased
6-8 times in the past 2 days. Will they just settle down?

When we did the cut out the bees seemed calmer than my mother hive
bees during a normal inspection.

Cheers,
Randy Emmitt
