Barry,

This is my area of foremost interest: wild selections of native edibles.
Please contact me via email. However, for now -- for those interested, and
yourself of course included:

Diospyros virginiana (60-c and 90-c)

Note: as Lon Rombough once pointed out to me, Aronia (Photinia) melanocarpa
[black chokeberry] NERO AND VIKING are hexaploids - not the straight species
- bred as such

NOTE: CULTIVARS OF Prunus american of midwestern providence are not of the
same subspecies as the eastcoast, and other such points, etc

NOTE THAT THE USDA REPOSITORY has a number of preserved wild plum selections
that are non-hybrids: P. munsoniana/rivularis/hortulana complex, P.
americana, P. maritima, P. nigra, etc.

I would not expect to find selections of the 2 native hazelnut species,
Viburnum lentago/V. prunifolium/V. nuddom, the rarer Amelanchier spp.,
may-apple, hillside blueberry, black highbush blueberry, purple passionflower
(?), purple-flowering and thimble raspberries, Prunus alleghaniensis, the 2
native hackberries, Mexican plum, Mexican persimmon, the 2 swisted-stalks,
blue huckleberry, etc.

Steve (NJ)
American (common) persimmon
