A few farmers have started growing olives in south-central Georgia.  There
was a big to-do among the foodie groups in GA celebrating the first oil
pressed last year.  An Italian friend whose family has an olive grove has
doubts that olives will do well in GA - he said olives can have problems in
high humidity.

When I commented to him about the abundance of grapevines and olive trees one
sees in backyards in Italy, he said, "Over the centuries people have figured
out what grows well here, and that's what they grow."

I have a spot that is a bit more then a partial-shade situation; which of the
would be a better choice (factoring shade-tolerance with
disease-susceptibility consequent to inadequate early-morning
sun-exposure/-drying..

European plum
Japanese hybrid plum
Edible crab-apples (Centennial, Chestnut, Wicksons)

Thank you,
Steve (NJ: 6b/7a)
