Richard Fahey, of the Christian Homesteading Movement (or similar moniker),
in Oxford, NY (I think) wrote about his 'cherry hawthorn' selection, in
NAFEX, a number of years ago, and was offering scionwood and seed from that
selection - which, to the best of my recollection was just a random
discovery of unknown origin that he selected out of a public landscape
planting somewhere in his vicinity.

Subject: [nafex] Cherry hawthorn

I got a plant called a "cherry hawthorn" a few years back. I'm sorry I don't
the name of the man I got it from. Maybe he's on the list. I recently tasted
a fruit from the Kansas hawthorn, C. coccinioides, and am wondering if that
was one of the parents that was used in coming up with the cherry hawthorn.
I thought the Kansas fruit was pretty tasty for a hawthorn.

Anyone have any clues?
