miekal - i also have learned this lesson year (again) that i should pot in individual containers, as the cuttings look plenty healthy at transplanting time but then many don't make it once transplanted, despite keeping them well watered. i transplanted my black and red currant cuttings about 2 months ago but had similar luck to what you just described. next year, i'll definitely be doing individual containers, or prepare spots in the ground where i can lay out a row or two for a year.
