Group:
The following is my preliminary list ranking shade-tollerance of these
orchard species of Prunus
Most tolerant: European plum (P. x domestica)
Next: sour cherry (P. cerasus)
Next: apricot (P. armeniaca; P. mandschurica)
Next: wild plums (P. americana; etc.)
Next: sweet cherry (P. avium)
Least: pin cherry (P. pennsylvanica) & beach plum (P. maritima) - just like
pear and apple
Does this sound right?
or...
1. Is sour cherry a little more shade-tolerant than apricot?
2. etc.
I assume pomegranate is less shade-tolerant then fig?
Thanks,
Steve
