We have had problems with squirrels. When we still had a wood rail fence along one side of the garden I could watch out the window as they high-tailed it back to their tree while carrying a green tomato in their mouth. Reminded me of the tradtional roast pig with apple.
Terrapins/tortoises will also eat tomatoes but can not reach very high off the ground.

This is slightly off topic, but some critter is stealing my tomatoes as they
turn color.
They are taken clean off the vine, no damage to the vines (caged). One large
nice tomato was half-eaten on the vine but the rest are just gone-no
leftovers on the ground or anything. This is a small garden, the losses
right now are 100%, so it's not a matter of sharing a few, etc.
I have a 2' high fence to keep rabbits out, but total fencing is not an
option. Adjacent green beans, cucumbers, hot peppers are untouched.
I have heard raccoons are noted for this; are opossums?

Has anyone had luck with liquid fence or other spray-on repellents for this
problem?
