As far as I know, American black currant (Ribes americanum) and clove
(buffalo) currant (R. odoratum; syn. R. aureum) are not very susceptible to
the effects of blister rust fungus.
Does that mean that they are not a host, just because they are not themselves
effected? I believe that Prunus americana is an unaffected host for x-knot
in Prunus spp., so perhaps it is the same for Ribes, as an alternate host for
the needle pine species, including white pine, etc.
