I appreciate all the suggestions for my dried out, blackened black walnut meats. Unfortunately, none seem that viable to me. As far as drought, other local black walnuts seem to have done fine. As far as frost or insects, I would think that the fruits would have dropped. Any other suggestions?

If it is fungal, how about checking the copper, sulfur, manganese and boron levels.
