Kidd's Orange Red, a 1924 cross of Cox and Red Delicious, works well
for us in NE TN, including this year with long stretches of days in
the 90s. Ripens well in this heat, during late Aug and early Sept.
Quite disease resistant, great flavor, texture and keeping qualities.
Moderate bearer so little thinning needed. Does have strong upright
growth pattern, so needs pruning to manage this.

Have heard Kidd's Orange also works in GA, hotter still. But our
humid heat is different than Idaho heat. Anyone in the mountain west
with Kidd's Orange experience?

Eating a seedling apple picked this morning, great flavor and texture
after two 21F nights.
