I don't know their source, but the ones I got at The Spanish Table in Berkeley were clean and free of any grit.

I tried dried white mulberries from Turkey a couple of year ago.  While the flavor, texture, etc were good, the fruit itself had a large amount of "dirt" or other material in with it.  I ended up discarding most of the package and have not purchased anymore for that reason.
