Ernest, I had previously only known of Sarah's experience, and she
said that she had not gotten good germination until seed had been
stratified. After reading your email, I did a little bit of furthur
research, and it seems that it doesn't need stratification. I'm
wondering if possibly fresh seeds germinate easily, while they may be
more difficult to germinate once dried.

I have heard of research done on seed viability of other species of
honeysuckle which are invasive around here, and their seeds typically
only live in the soil for a year or less, while other seeds such as of
common buckthorn can live up to 9 years in the soil. So perhaps the
seeds are short lived, or resent drying.

If anyone out there has haskaps or honeyberries, I would like to try
growing some fresh seed this year. Will pay shipping for a small
amount of berries! Most interested in someone who has as many
varieties as possible.
