Dec. 26, 2009

Dear Fruit Growers,

As many of you know, Ken Dooley who was a founding father of the Indiana Nut Growers passed away last fall. INGA has held meetings there in the past and many of you have been there. To clear the estate the property will be sold at auction on Saturday, January 16, 2010.

The house is single level, 1012 ft. feet.  It has an eat in kitchen, two bedrooms, one single bath, living room and laundry room. There is an detached 1 ½ car garage.  There are four utility buildings, one contains a small greenhouse, another a fruit cellar. There are two metal grain bins and three tillable acres which does not include the garden area near the house. Included in the 20 acres is a four acre apple orchard, four acres of nut trees, and 4 ½ acres established timber. There were also fruit trees and a vinyard, some are still  there. At 93, Ken wasn't able to work with the trees for the last few years.

There will be an open house on two Sunday's,  January 3rd and 10th, from 1 to 3 p.m. affording one the opportunity to inspect the grounds and out buildings. This property has been appraised at slightly over $100,000.  The outbuildings are in need of some repair which can be done at leisure once new occupants have moved in.

The address is: 2595 E 450 N, Marion, IN 46952. A good satellite view of this property is available at Goggle Earth and is on the North side of 450N. Ken's son is presently living in the house.  Ken's brother Merrill can answer further questions and can be reached at 765-778-2216.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a young couple who wish to be nearly food self-sufficient with the possibility of a truck farm for fruit and vegetable sales. It is a low investment country retirement opportunity. Please pass the word on to persons possibly interested. Help us in our attempt to preserve these trees and save them from the bulldozers.

Somewhere out there is a  couple this property is crying for.

Sincerely,

Jerry Lehman
