Jim,

If it is still showing life another option would be to protect
the entire tree from what is trying to kill it, which is most
likely the plant bacterium pseudomonas syringae.  Peach trees
are very vulnerable to this disease as are many other prunus
when under stress.  If you can cut stub back the tree so that
it's low enough for you to cover it and maintain a little
greenhouse at 80F temperature you will be keeping what is most
likely killing your tree (the disease) dormant at those
temperatures.

It is not a cure all, but an invitation to extend the life to
the point of adding a few extra years.

Rupert.

Subject: [NAFEX] Peach tree question

Is there any way of encouraging a peach tree to send up suckers?  My

hardiest peach tree is trying to die.  It has never produced a sucker.  It

is eight years old and has survived winters colder than -35F.
