Sometimes trying something on a whim, in lieu of evidence can work just fine. Just try something. Like when I noticed that Colorado Potato Beetles attacked the east side of the potato patch first. So now I plant a few potatoes on the east side of my property (where they get infested and are easy to control) and most of the potatoes on the west side where the beetles don't go. It works but I don't know why. Now if I could just apply something similar to my fruit growing.
