The Halls hardy almonds are probably budded on peach rootstock, and you
should not have a major problem with the roots breaking up a concrete
floor. -- Sam Brungardt, St. Paul, Minn. (zone 4a)

Subject: [NAFEX] Almonds near Walls

Folks:

I'm getting two Hall's hardy almonds to try out and with no real
expectations of survival or full fruition in my Zone 5. However, I will
be having some space open up next to my garage wall and I'm wondering if

anyone has experience with almond roots near walls. Are the root systems

shallow or deep? Will they destroy my garage wall and floor or grow
there rather happily (should they survive the winters)?

Thanks for your input,

Geoffrey Tolle
