I should add, I used to plant all my trees with the
graft below grade, for various reasons. I haven't checked them all, but
some of the apples I've dug up and moved had roots above the graft.
Peaches never do. This behavior of peach was confirmed by Illinois fruit
specialist Chris Doll.
