Lon,

In the 80s we had a tree-climbing round seeded slipskin grape at our property in the zone 7 northern California  foothills.  It tasted Concordy, but they were larger than what I would expect.  The vine bore prolifically, turning the tall cedar into a grape tree.  I would manage to harvest about one-fourth of the grapes, around 75 pounds.  The higher ones were left to the birds and beasts.  Any wild guesses what that was – the Concord it tasted like, or something else?  I know that’s not sufficient information, and I won’t hold you to any guess you might have, if any.  I’ve always just wondered a bit.

Grapes will work in that amount of partial shade, though shade may delay ripening. Go with early ripening varieties in that case.
