I'm familiar with the methods described. I have been wondering, in fact, if anyone was using these techniques to grow bananas. The varieties that fruit around here are supposed to be hardy to zone 7 and zone 5 with winter protection, though I think I would protect them in zone 7 too. As long as you have 9 months of frost free weather, these varieties should ripen fruit. Soory the only one I can remember at the moment is Rajapuri.
