If you are planning to graft this spring, you will actually gain a year over waiting to do summer budding. I've grafted plums and they do fine, but not peaches. Well, I've grafted plum onto peach, so I was close. You can also do chip buds in the spring, you just wait for the bark to slip before doing them. It's only a matter of a few weeks later than when you can start grafting. Donna
