Hello Deb;
 
I can vouch for William's Pride in zone 4 Maine on clay/loam soil.
Big, flavorful dark red apples with no scab. Ripens in August.
 
I also have 10 Zestar trees. What a winner! Great snappy apple taste, medium size apples.
Also ripens in mid August, with almost no disease.
 
You may also want to look at Pristine. My 4 year old trees averaged over 50 apples each!
They are yellow with a pink blush, sweet and delicious.
