Lon's comments regarding Prunus insititia are interesting in that in
the UK we know these little plums as Damsons. Historically they where
used for food and dye manufacture. An area of the North West of
England known as the Lake District has a rich history of growing
Damsons and a local association has an interesting website http://www.lythdamsons.org.uk
