1. Cut back limb to form adventitious shoot usually while dormant but can also be done spring or summer.
2. when shoots are 8 to 10 inches and woody , collect shoots.
3.quick dip in 7,000 ppm indole butyric acid.
4.place shoots 2 inches deep in 50/50 perlite and peat moistened.put in half gallon milk carton with drainage.
5.cover with polyethylene bag.50%shade or 100% shade
in greenhouse.
This a brief resume of what is involved but if you decide to do it I would get the video from Jerry.

I would like to have the synopsis for rooting pecan cuttings.  Please be as specific as you can.  Should you, for instance; use green wood, or dormant?

Thanks a heap for the offer.

In the 1990 NNGA annual report , Loy Shreve gave a recipe to root the the
adventitious shoots of Texas black walnut using rooting hormone and cardboard
milk
cartons.I believe it would possibly transpose to pecan. If any one is interested,
I could post a synopsis.

There were some rooted in LA when I was there, but it is very difficult. The
rooted cuttings tended not to live after rooting from dormant cuttings. I wonder
if greenwood would work better. Maybe someone else has more info. Bottom heat
was used.
