When I was reading the posts regarding the winter moth I thought the moth sounded a lot like our  "Gypsy Moth"  Lymantha Dispar.  We are plagued with this moth here in Pa. Landowners can sign up with their County Conservation District or Extension Agent for information on spray programs.  The egg masses are a sure sign of ID.  It was introduced into the U.S. in 1869 in Medford, Massachusetts.
