I have a two-year old O'Neal I planted just this year and decided to buck conventional wisdom, and did not pinch off any of the blooms. They are putting on many blueberries and the plant is roughly 12-24" tall. I have two 'Premier' and two BlueJay varieties, and they have yet to put on fruit or flowers, of course they are later bearing than the O'Neal. The O'Neal isn't necessarily putting on TONS of fruit, but there are probably a dozen to 2 dozen fruit on a single plant.

I hope this helps, not sure how the rest of the year will go. But there you have it.

In my experience in NC, blueberries are slow to establish. Once they do

I have always pinched off flowers for the first 2 years on all my so.
highbush and rabbiteye plants. This is the 'conventional wisdom' that
was imparted to me as an essential element of successful blueberry
culture, so I have always done it. Therefore, I do not have a good
control group to compare their growth with plants that have produced
fruit from an early age.
