Hi All,
I just read a news clip from Michigan State's Experiment Station, wherein a grower released Berkshire hogs into an apple orchard to eat June-dropped apples. The news: releasing hogs into the orchard during June/July there reduced incidence of plum curculio. Seems the hogs liked the downed apples, and the curculio larvae inside the apples didn't have time to exit into the soil. This was from the Dec 1, 2007 news bulletin.
Apple-flavored bacon, anyone?
