I'm not sure about the hardiness or grafting compatibility, but D. texana is diploid. It may be the North American equivalent to D. lotus, which is also diploid. Looking at its native range, I would not expect it to be very hardy.

Does anyone have or know of a northern limit diospyros texana that is hardy in zone 6?
Could anyone share any info about this native species?
Such as chromosome number, fruit quality, comparative vegetating time(that is compared to d. virginiana),and whether there are any interspecific hybrids out there?
Is it graft compatible on d.virginiana?
