You can throw your peach pits over in the bushes and they will take care of themselves. Of course you plant them in a nice neat row, or better yet plant 3 pits every place you want to bud a peach. They aren't too fond of being transplanted, so if you know where you want your peaches (or plums) to be, you can pick the best one later to bud to and grub out the others.
I never tried to keep peach pits in the fridge, but I have put them in mesh bags and buried them in a raised bed. Every time I'd forget to check them early enough in the spring and would wind up cutting up the bag to get the long sprouts out. Better to put them where you want them. Donna
