- Subject: [NAFEX] Cherry Airlayer for Rootstock
- Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2008 05:25:03 -0500
I've been neglecting a sour cherry tree in my front yard. So the
graft got away from me.
I need to cut a 1" dia side trunk-lette away from the main
(desired, 3" dia). I suppose I will try to preserve some cambium
and bark and fold the cambium across the rather great wound
I will make.
Before I do this, I thought I might air layer a couple branches
for root stock. Buds are trying to swell. USDA 9c here <w.>
Suggested diameter of said branch?
Other than I should be shot for letting it go wild for so long,
comments & suggestions appreciated, if any.
TIA
