Thank you Jerri.
Sherwood was important to a lot of NAFEX people, both as a friend and for his plant knowledge.
It almost doesn't seem possible he's gone. Sherwood was one of those people with such boundless energy and enthusiasm a phone conversation with him was enough to make you want to jump up and run outside to work on your plants, even if it was the middle of the night or the dead of winter. He was virtually a force of Nature in himself with his ability to work with plants. He has left a legacy of plant varieties and wonderful memories with me, though I'll never have enough of either.
The angels will be learning a lot about Mayhaws from now on.

I'm not sure how many of you knew my father, Sherwood Akin.
He spoke very kindly of many of you and loved this group.
He passed away quit unexpectedly on Sept 23. from Leukemia.
We tried to notify as many people as we could but with this type of loss
it's
hard to remember everything.
