- Subject: [NAFEX] Evans Cherry and Elderberry de-stemming
- Date: Sun, 5 Aug 2007 20:55:00 -0400
I threw in 10 Evans trees from Fedco in the spring of '06. Zone 4,
Maine.
No protection other than spiral wrap for the beloved Voles.
They all came through the winter fine.
I don't know what root they're on, but it 'tolerates' the semi-soggy
clayish loam.
Meanwhile, the Surefire trees planted the same day, actually fruited.
Also; is there a better way to de-stem Elderberries than fingers ?
The table fork I chose kept jamming...???
Today I picked 21 cups, really quick, off one bush clump.
