Hallo Mike and Jerry,
thank you very much Jerry!
Let me add some more details:
Bastard-Cherries have many adventages:
- The taste is very nice: stronger than Sweet-cherries,
but less souer than Souer-cherries.
- You can eat them fresh and cook them.
- the juice is very nice and colored.
- the tree-growth is not as tall as Sweet-cherries (= easy harvest),
but it is better than Sourer-cherries (not much felted).
- they are in general quite resistant
I am very sure at least:
- Koröser Weichsel, syn. Pandy (eg. No. 48, 279, Bb.119), Sweet Weichsel;
- Queen Hortense, syn. Reine Hortense, Glas-Cherry and
- Karneol, are available at the USA.
These days the mentioned ones are harvested at Germany.
ciao
hans

Does anyone sell sweet x sour cherry hybrids in the US? (Prunus avium x Prunus cerasus)
These hybrids are often refereed to as Duke cherries. Don't know of any nursery propagating them. I happen to have one that the person who selected it thinks is fairly good. My tree was budded. It is small, black when ripe and fairly good to eat out of hand. It isn't sweet nor sour maybe "sugar neutral" is a good description. Last year it was loaded and the birds love it.
