- Subject: [NAFEX] Blackberry pruning

Question on pruning thornless erect blackberries. The university
information on the Web says to keep erect blackberries topped at 30-36
inches, then in late dormancy to cut the laterals back to 1 foot. This is
supposed to keep the canes from over fruiting. But....., some cultivars are
tip bearers and they say the laterals on tip bearers should NOT be headed
back. My question is which, if any, of the following varieties are tip
bearers? ---- Triple Crown, Quachita, Apache, Arapaho.
