Eric,
Just another perspective - I do all my stone fruit T budding the last half
of July (usually start about July 20th) and all the pome fruits in August.
I do about 12 to 15 hundred every year with good results. I find that the
buds of the stone fruits tend to mature earlier than the buds of the pome
fruits. Of course the rootstocks have to be actively growing, well
watered, etc. Where they haven't worked so well has usually been do to the
fact that the rootstock wasn't growing well or the buds weren't mature
enough.
