Hi,

The wind's drying qualities will desiccate plants that should otherwise
thrive in a zone.

I have grapes that make it through the winter fine with a wrap of burlap,
but die to the ground without it.

I am sure you have seen evergreens that "winter wind burn". Same thing is
going on.

Since our location is very windy, some things need winter wind protection.

How much of a factor should wind chill be in estimating a micro-
climate zone? How did the USDA climatologists factor in wind chill
in creating hardiness zones?
