My sole experience with Aronia has been seeing it growing in the landscaping at a miniature golf course at a youth entertainment center at Nicholasville KY - just SW of Lexington.
Handsome clusters of blue-black berries on bushes growing between 'holes' in the putt-putt course, mulched with pea gravel.
Personally, I didn't find them very flavorful; not 'choking', but nothing to write home about either; This would have been in mid-September - maybe they weren't yet at their peak?
