Heads-up re meadow-vole damage. Last weekend I found a couple fresh little nibble marks on a 1" caliper apple trunk. This trunk is partially sheltered by weeds I never got around to pulling, and the marks were not serious damages, but vole season has started. First sign of autumn!

look at the roots for mouse damage.....will amaze you how many hungry
critters are under what we grow
