Hi
We tried the Jonagold here in zone 5b, Rochester NY and lost it to winter damage. None of our other trees died that year- Melrose, Granny Smith, Fortune, and Twenty Ounce. We replaced it with a Golden Delicious which has been doing ok.

the golden delicious tripliod crosses
jonagold, spigold, and mutsu,
all have consistent high yields
(barring frost),
and according to me, great flavor.
