Jim, I think there would be considerable demand for a blackberry that's
winter hardy in Zone 3 (I'm speaking here of one that can winter without
snow protection.) Although, pomologist Jim Luby of the U of M thinks
the real demand will be for a THORNLESS hardy blackberry. I visited
with him briefly last week and he said Loudon Black blackberry (Loudon
may be spelled Lowden sometimes) stands out so far in hardiness among
those he's tested. However, he added that it's very thorny and
aggressive and a lot of potential growers will not like that. -- Sam

I've got a zone 3 blackberry that shows real promise that could be
ready for release in a year or so. A professor from the local
university is encouraging me onward with it exclaiming that there would
be a tremendous demand for the plant. What do you think?
