Title: Message
I've read varying
reports on how effective guineas are for tick control. I wish someone
would put an end to the controversy and do a scientific study. Without
doubt, however, they'll eat them if they see them. -- Sam Brungardt, St. Paul,

Our neighbors across the street have had guinea fowl for 15 years
or more. Usually they cross the road and make a tour of our yard and
orchard area once or twice a year, and we often hear them screeching or what
ever you call their cry. They haven't lost many to coyotes, fox, or other
critters, even though we do have fox, coyotes, fishers, and other interesting
creatures in our neighborhood. We live at the edge of a small city where
suburbia is encroaching on small farms.
The neighbors originally got the guineas because of ticks, but I
haven't asked them their opinion of using them for tick control in years.
