The seeds are not an issue for us. We have used thsi practice of spreading the apple pulp since 1997 and have never had a seed sprout. Nor have we had a weed problem where we spread the pulp, since we never spread it directly on the plants or in the rows. Nor do we compost it. It is never older than 1 or 2 days before being spread.

A long time ago I read about a vineyard where the grapeseeds were put in a container and the heat from their fermentation was led through pipes that heated glasshouses. The resulting compost was then used, and none of the seeds retained viability.

It would have to be an enormous container for all the apple pomace, but perhaps just covering the pile with tarps would heat it enough to kill the seeds.
